RACE TECH WEEKEND REPORT - 4/1/2012
Pro Events:
The Race Tech Team impressed around the world over the weekend; highlighted by RT backed privateer Preston Mull qualifying for his first AMA Supercross Main Event in the premier 450cc division. Preston was very excited and thankful for the support from the Race Tech crew to accomplish this goal.
Anthony Murray showed he has the style and the tricks to win any FMX competition. After putting in two solid runs, Murray claimed the victory at the X-Pilots Event presented by Monster Energy.
Alvaro Lozano Rico continues to lead the Spanish MX Championship in the Elite MX1 division after another podium finish on the weekend.
We'd like to congratulate Anthony Marisa for taking home a 2nd Place finish in the Bad Boys of Arenacross Championship.
The Road to Loretta Lynn's:
Springtime marks the beginning of the quest to the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. Area Qualifiers took place all over throughout the weekend, and many of Race Tech's top guns showed their talents.
Izaih Clark topped the 65cc Stock division at Wildcat Creek in Indiana. He would also run up front in 65 Mod, and the 85 Stock and Modified divisions advancing to the Regional round of qualifiers.
Jeff Williams heads to his Loretta Lynn's Regional after qualifying at Aonia MX in the 45 division.
Dave Eppig rocketed to a top 5 finish and a ticket to the Regionals at Horn Rapids aboard a 1983 Honda CR 480 in the 50 class.
Noteable Amateur Events:
On the West coast, the Transworld/Muscle Milk Series moved to Pala, CA. Viktor Bjorklund claimed victory in the 250 Pro Class and finished on the podium in the Open Pro division on his Race Tech Suzuki. Viktor is visiting from Sweden and showing his skills here on American soil. Caden Payne showed strong at Pala finishing up inside the top 5 in the 65 9-11 division.
The AV Motoplex Series moved to Round 3 over the weekend. Blake Gardner came in as the points leader in the 50 Open and 50 7-8 divisions aboard his KTM50. Blake would leave with two podiums and a win on the day to remain in the drivers seat for the championships.
Dwight Catalano finished up inside the top 5 at the SRAC D-25 Series Event in Colorado racing the Super Senior and Senior A classes at Wildrat Raceway.
Andrew Day piloted his 85 to a win at Budd's Creek for the MDRA 7 Series race over the weekend.
Off-Road Events:
Race Tech's continued involvement in the off road racing scene continues to pay off. Steve Leivan took home a 2nd in his class at the 2nd round of the OMA Nationals in Dawson Springs, KY. Langdon Feltner finished up on the podium in the 85cc class at the Indiana Cross Country Series event. Terra Conlon stayed inside the top 10 at the Hollister Hills stop on the District 36 XC Series.
Vintage Events:
Louis Phay topped the field at round 2 of the Arizona State Vet and Vintage Championship Series in the 40 and 80's Drum classes.
Shawn O'Neill went 1-1 on the day at the Budd's Creek ACR Vintage Race.
