RACE TECH WEEKEND REPORT - 3/4/2012
Race Tech supported riders Kaeden Kniffing, Meghan Rutledge, and Kyle Wolack stood a-top the podium at the final round of the Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series this past weekend at Competitive Edge MX Park in Southern California. Kaeden Kniffing was up front all weekend long in the 65cc divisions taking home a lion's share of 1st and 2nd place finishes. Meghan Rutledge is visiting the US for her first time from Australia, and with the help of Race Tech she was able to take home wins in the Women's division and stand on the podium in the highly competitive Schoolboy class against many of the region's top riders. Kyle Wolack is making his return to racing after under-going knee surgery and took home a win in the Pro Open division. Kyle was a front runner all weekend long against the region's top pros.
Team Dowell Racing was also on hand at the final stop on the Muscle Milk TWMX Winter Series. Jason Dowell returned to action after two months off recovering from an injury to finish up on the podium even after getting a flat tire during the final moto. Jordan Dowell was once again up front all weekend finishing inside the top 5 both days.
Steve Leivan competed at the 3rd Round of the National Enduro series in Salley, SC over the weekend. Leivan would brave the muddy conditions after showers over-night drenched the facility to take home a 2nd place finish.
At the St. Louis round of the AMA Supercross Series, Ben Lamay, Cody Gilmore, Preston Mull and Mike Horban took on the best SX riders in the world in the premier 450cc division. All four riders transferred easily out of qualifying practice and set their sites on the heat races. Horban ran up front early in his heat race and continues to show improvements as the series moves on. Ben Lamay made headlines and earned a spot on Speed Center, but unfortunately it was from an ugly crash that brought out the red flag in his heat race. Banged, battered, and bruised, the like-able rider from Alaska will park his #52 Yamaha for the next couple of rounds to heal up before returning to action.
At the AMA Freestone Spring Championship in Wortham, TX; the Amateur National season kicked off. Race Tech supported Nicholas Marret took home a top 10 in the 85cc 9-11 Mod division. Megan Hurst scored a top 10 finish in the Women's Amateur division in Texas.
