RACE TECH WISHES BRUCE RUTHERFORD WELL
Corona, CA- Longtime Race Tech support rider and top West Coast Supercross Lites Class rider Bruce Rutherford let us know this week that he has an opportunity with a new team for the rest of the SX Lites West Coast Championship, as well as the AMA Motocross Tour. In addition to support for the AMA Motocross Tour, Rutherford will also finally be able to be paid for doing what he loves – racing Supercross and Motocross. Although a tough decision, Bruce made the decision to cut his ties with the Rockwell/FirePoliceMX.com team supported by Race Tech to capitalize on this opportunity.
“As a racer, the goal is always to get the best results possible. It’s a dream of mine to make a living doing what I love – racing Supercross and Motocross. With the support of Race Tech and the whole Rockwell/FirePoliceMX.com team, as well as all my other sponsors I was able to put in some really solid results last year and had some good rides already this year,” stated Bruce Rutherford.
He continued, “I can’t thank the whole team at Race Tech enough, although I’m excited to have the opportunity with my new team; I am also bummed to be leaving behind the team and people that helped me get this opportunity. If it wasn’t for all their support, great products, and believing in me when many others had doubt, I would have never made it here. I am glad I have built a lot of great relationships with the whole team at Race Tech that will continue throughout my career, no matter what team or bike I am riding.”
“When Bruce called to ask if we’d let him out of his contract to take this opportunity, we were obviously bummed. Bruce has been a big part of Race Tech for quite awhile, and not only was he a top rider on the track; he was like family to us off the track. We know the decision was really tough for him, and we’re glad we were able to support Bruce when very few people believed in him enough to give him an opportunity. There is always a home at Race Tech for Bruce, and we definitely hope at some point we will be able to re-join forces with a team he is riding for. In the meantime, we wish Bruce the best of luck in his new venture. He’ll always be a member of the Race Tech alumni – more a part of the family than just a support rider,” said Race Tech’s Director of Marketing, Chris Riesenberg.
Chris continued, “Having Bruce move on to a new team means we are working alongside the Rockwell/FirePoliceMX.com team to find a replacement rider. Bruce proved the team and bike are more than capable of putting in solid results. It’s hopeful that one of our current Race Tech supported riders will land under their truck with some additional support, but the other option of welcoming a new rider to the team is definitely exciting as well. Killy Rusk will continue to ride for the Race Tech supported Rockwell/FirePoliceMX.com team while team manager Ed Wilson looks for a replacement rider to fill in for Rutherford and the injured Jason Potter who is not expected back until at least Seattle.”
