In order to remove the anti-dive damping rod from the fork leg you must take off the Bypass Hardware. This is the series of clips, springs and washers shown on the left side of the picture. This will disable the Anti-Dive. Anti-Dive Rod Modification - Drill (4) 8mm (5/16") compression feed holes starting 6mm above the top clip groove. Drill a second set of holes 10mm above the first new set at 90 degrees to the last to maintain rod strength. Deburr the compression holes inside and out. Cupped-top rods do not require an adapter. Flat-top damping rods require an adapter. | |
On some models the bottoming cone and the end of the damping rod are indexed with a D shaped notch. If your model looks like this it must be aligned. The bottoming cone has a V notch that must line up inside the fork slider. It is likely that either or both of these may be damaged from a previous incorrect assembly and may require repair. |
